When attendees and visitors take their first step onto the trade show floor, they are instantly hit with an enormous amount of visual and informational stimulation. Take the Chicago Auto Show for example, which is taking place this year from February 9th through the 18th. Car manufacturers from around the globe come together for the 10 day event to show off their latest and greatest automobile and technological creations. But what sets their booths apart from others? Take Jeep for example; every year, Jeep hosts one of the most interactive sets by allowing attendees to be passengers in a wide array of their vehicles while trained drivers take them up and down steep inclines and across rugged, watery and rocky terrain. Look across the way and compare that to Ford’s Mustang booth where their latest Mustang is strapped into a dynamometer with a microphone pointed at it’s exhaust is hooked up to sub-woofers so attendees across the showroom floor can hear it roar and are attracted to come and watch the show. With that said, there are many unique and creative ways to attract people and increase your booth’s foot traffic.

-The early bird gets the worm…

The excitement your booth provides for attendees starts long before the actual event, and even before the planning stages of your set.  Blogs, social media posts, etc., are great ways to tease what your company has in store for everyone at the show, helping to build anticipation and excitement for your products and booth.

-Make your booth noticeable and interactive…

It is one thing to see your product, it is another to touch, feel, play with, drive, smell or even taste your product. If you are showcasing pillows, find a way for people to lay on them. If you are showcasing your next big virtual reality video game, let people put on a pair of VR goggles and play your beta demo. If you are Jeep and want people to feel the reliability of your vehicle, let people sit inside of and drive them around in your vehicles. If you are a protein/supplement company, make delicious protein shakes for your future buyers to try and drink. In terms of being noticed; smells, sounds, colors/lights/lasers always do the trick. MEC is currently publishing a a blog series where we highlight some up and coming trends for this year. Perhaps you might consider incorporating these trendy designs into your next trade show set. We have even created a levitating product displays before. Remember; be creative.

-Pull a stunt to stun the crowd…

Mostly everyone else will be incorporating unique and innovative ways to attract people to their booth. So, when everyone else is doing the same thing, how will you be standing out even more? Stunts are great ways to attract a lot of attention to your booth, but remember to be careful to attract the right type of attention. “Attractive-edgy” should be what you keep in mind. Flash mobs, exotic animals, celebrity appearances; whatever you do, make sure it coincides with your brand’s image and message.

-Long, longer, longest lines…

Long lines are usually the worst, especially when you really need to use the bathroom. However, in the wonderful world of trade show exhibits, long lines are the greatest, most desired thing for your booth. But, how exactly does one create a long line for their booth? By incorporating the ideas listed above, you could have a line out the door and around the building. Letting people know ahead of time where you will be and what you will have will help to drive traffic numbers for your booth. Giveaway’s, contests, meet-and-greets; these are only some of the many creative things you can do to grow your line more and more.

Along with these few, simple tips, we here at MEC can help create a booth for you that drives foot traffic and grows your brand and businesses into something you have always dreamed for it.
